2019 Kitchen and Bathroom Trends
By Forward Features
For 2019, bathroom and kitchen design is not only about beautiful interiors but also about practical living. Let’s take a look at three keys trends that we think will be hot for the year ahead.
Wellbeing is key
Over the past few years, wellbeing has been a huge buzzword in interiors & lifestyle, and it’s not going anywhere. As we all consider our mindfulness, we look to relax and create breakaway spaces to get a bit of ‘me time’. The bathroom is a sanctuary for getting away from the everyday and doing just that, so expect to see clean lines and neutral spaces in 2019. Bring a spa like feel into your bathroom with on trend marble, sleek brassware and a luxurious freestanding baths or showers. Ranges such as Stillness are perfect for achieving this look. Soft lines and natural woods will create a calming space.
We’ve seen lots of contemporary updates to the kitchen and bathroom the last few years. From cool brushed brassware through to advances in technology which have streamlined our kitchens and bathrooms. However, expect to return to traditional values in 2019. From retro pops of pastel colours to Victorian style finishes, both the kitchen and bathroom are set to receive a classic twist. Freestanding baths and shapely basins will give the bathroom an old-school style with curvaceous designs that will add a romantic feel. Complement this with traditional looking cisterns and brassware for the shower, bath and basin. The kitchen will see the revival of deep undermount sinks and farmhouse styles such as Hawthorne. Kohler’s new Artifacts collection has an elegant and timeless feel so whether you’re looking to update an existing traditional style room or give an update to something existing, Artifacts suits many schemes making it easy to achieve the right splash of modern-meets-classic.
Finally, Colour experts, Pantone have announced their Colour of the Year 2019, Living Coral. A zingy orange-y shade with a pink softness, Living Coral is bound to be the hot hue for the year ahead. For the kitchen, Living Coral adds a fruitful brightness. A statement splashback would work perfectly in Living Coral and would complement in-vogue cabinetry right now such as rich navy, green and black shades. For both the bathroom and the kitchen, Living Coral would look fantastic paired with an array of contemporary brassware such as Kohler’s new Purist kitchen tap in matte black.
Three trends to keep an eye on in 2019 and some simple updates for both the kitchen and bathroom.
