Viewing Waste in a New Light
Kohler UK at Clerkenwell Design Week - 22- 24 May 2018
We have chosen Clerkenwell Design week as the perfect opportunity to launch a design initiative that we are very proud of.
WasteLab is our pledge to think differently about the waste we produce.
We are taking every day waste from our product manufacturing streams and we are turning it into something beautiful.
Waste from vitreous and cast-iron manufacturing is being reborn and turned into saleable products, all which boast the design quality you would expect from our product range.
“WasteLab is challenging us to think differently about the byproducts we see every day from our manufacturing,” explains Theresa Millard Project Manager – Sustainability and Stewardship at Kohler.
“We feel inspired to look at our environment differently. Inspired to find ways to make less of an impact on our environment. And inspired by the efforts being made to protect the world.
“New products are developed because engineers and designers apply innovation to a problem to find a solution,” continues Theresa. “It is time to apply what we know about transforming raw materials into finished products and apply that same knowledge to Kohler industrial waste materials.”
Visitors are welcome to visit the Kohler Experience Centre at West One Bathrooms to see early prototypes from this project – a line of ceramic tiles for Kohler’s Ann Sacks brand which use pottery cull, iron slag and leftover glazes.
If you are an interior designer you can also register to attend a free interactive session to explore this initiative in more detail. Email email@example.com to register your attendance.
